Christian Feiland is a media professional and the co-founder of the Foreign Media Association (FMATurkey.org) in Turkey. He has a strong connection to Istanbul, where he also contributes to the welfare of street animals in his free time. Feiland is also the owner of BustedTails.com / KirikKuyruk.com, a portal dedicated to helping street animals in the region. His extensive experience in media includes roles such as TV journalist, cameraman, director, and PR advisor at Frame34.com, a company specializing in film, broadcast, TV & video production, social media, and internet videos. His commitment to both media and social causes in Istanbul is evident through his various professional and volunteer activities.
Christian Feiland is deeply committed to protecting Mother Nature and its inhabitants, making tireless efforts to support environmental sustainability and animal welfare. He diligently avoids producing trash, ensures thorough recycling, and utilizes solar electric panels and solar hot water systems to minimize his carbon footprint. At home, he practices vermicomposting with three indoor worm boxes, turning organic waste into valuable compost. His compassionate nature extends to rescuing animals; he has provided a loving home for four rescue cats and has saved the lives of numerous creatures, including dogs, seagulls, and porcupines. Additionally, he has set up bat houses to offer safe habitats for these vital nocturnal creatures.
Past
Christian Feiland became a “globe trotter” as an infant due to his father´s job. As a toddler he has lived for 4 years in Istanbul and as teenager he has spent 3 years in Karachi, Pakistan, where he graduated from the Karachi American School in 1990.
In 1992 he passed his Abitur in Leverkusen, Germany and moved to Berlin where he began to study at the TU Berlin. Shortly afterwards he started his media career at Kiss FM Berlin as a radio presenter and journalist – a jump in at the deep end, as no one was in the know. Learning by doing. A year later, he started at Media Port Berlin as a TV writer and director. He lives in Istanbul since 1997.
Chris Feiland has a rich family history connected to Istanbul, dating back to 1875. His ancestors, the Meyer family, were watchmakers who worked in the Yildiz Palace for Sultan Abdül Hamid II. The “Meyer Clocks” were well-known throughout Turkey until about 40 years ago. Christian’s grandmother, who lived to be 103 years old, had the honor of meeting Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in person. This deep-rooted connection to Istanbul is a source of pride for Chris.
